Places to stay in Formentera
Choosing the right area to stay is a decisive factor for a successful holiday in formentera.
Here is some information about the towns and most popular beaches on the island, among which you can find the one that best suits your needs and tastes.
Located in the North East area of Formentera island, near the most beautiful beaches and just a few miles from La Savina pier, Es Pujols is an old fishing village and even now, despite the recent tourist boom, counts just about 600 residents.
Although here is the highest concentration of apartments and Hotels in Formentera, Es Pujols still retains the size of a walking village in all its extension.
Mitjorn Beach runs all along the South coast of Formentera, for more than 6 miles.
Thanks to its extension, therefore to the low concentration of tourists per square metre, Mitjorn remains one of the quietest Island beaches and maintains all its wild aspect intact, although there is no shortage of apartments, hotels and houses.
If you love the beauty and the colors of the sea, we recommend a small deviation (only 2 km) from Mitjorn towards Es Cal the beautiful beach of Es Calo, famous for its shades of blue and light reflections given by a special type of minerals in the rocks.
LAS SALINAS e ILLETAS
The reserve of Ses Salines, natural park and UNESCO World Heritage site since 2001, includes two strips of land, South of Formentera and North of Formentera, with all the small islands and of course the stretch of sea between the two main islands. The beaches and the crystal clear waters of Ses Salinas hide treasures of flora and fauna. In the North of Formentera, the twin beaches of Illetas and Levante are a part of Ses Salinas natural park.
La Savina village, where the Marina of Formentera is located, can also be an excellent choice, for its great location (near Illetas and Es Pujols) and for the many services that the city offers.
